As we spotted on Anneke Beerten’s Specialized Enduro back in October in Finale, SRAM now has a new X-Sync direct mount chainring and it’s going to be available from December depending on the ring size you’re after.
The new ring should offer some stiffness benefits and a lighter weight than the existing spider and bolt on ring as well as widening the number of cranks within the SRAM range useable for single ring set ups…

Bit confused is this not what absolute black are all ready doing!?!?
I thought one of the benefits of X-Sync was that you weren’t meant to need a chain guide?
Most top level enduro racers use chain guides I reckon
Yep, my absolute black dis the exact same thing and fuss my x0 cranks
Confused as to why SRAM persisted with the Spider and 4 bolt chainring, when most of their high(er) end cranks have had removable spiders allowing you to run a spiderless single ring for years now… Got a 30T Works Components on my Truvativ AKA cranks now, and it’s ace (also about half the price of SRAM rings!)
mboy, the XX1 spider allows chainrings to be swapped without removing the crank, and with just an Allen key, which is fair bit quicker/easier than swapping a direct mount ring. Good to have both options available now though.
