Silverback Slider LT

Silverback Launch 160mm Slider LT, With Tweakable Geometry

by 0

Silverback might not be that common a name as some when it comes to bikes you spot in the wild here in the UK, but they do sponsor world champion and OMX Pro Team rider Annie Last. They offer more than XC bikes, and have got in touch with us about their new Slider LT –  an aluminium 160mm, 650b enduro bike. You can see a gallery, build options, geometry and prices below.

Riders can alter the head angle of the bike (65.5 or 66 degrees), but rather than using an angleset headset to achieve this, it’s done via a flip chip in front of the shock. That also slightly alters the seat tube angle, bottom bracket height and standover too.

Save for the Shimano M6000 brakes and SBC dropper, the LT1 build is all SRAM with a Yari fork, a Monarch Plus shock, and a GX Eagle drivetrain.

The head angle is 65.5 degrees, or with the reversal of a flip chip on the front shock mount, you can steepen it by half a degree.

Finishing kit is Sliverback’s own SBC/Sector components, including this stem and bar combo.

The bar and stem use the 35m standard. If you ever decide to change them, it’s handy they have the back- and up-sweep printed on them, because who remembers that kind of stuff?

Silverback Slider LT
While it is of course impossible to tell for sure without trying one out, that lower pivot being slightly higher than the chain should ensure it climbs quite well.

Silverback Slider LT geometry
Here’s the geometry (click for bigger version), including the changes made by the flip chip in high and low positions.

David started mountain biking in the 90’s, by which he means “Ineptly jumping a Saracen Kili Racer off anything available in a nearby industrial estate”. After growing up and living in some extremely flat places, David moved to Yorkshire specifically for the mountain biking. This felt like a horrible mistake at first, because the hills are so steep, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Previously, David trifled with road and BMX, but mountain bikes always won. He’s most at peace battering down a rough trail, quietly fixing everything that does to a bike, or trying to figure out if that one click of compression damping has made things marginally better or worse. The inept jumping continues to this day.
